John and Jessica were on their way home from the bar and John got pulled over by the police. The officer told John that he was stopped because his tail light was burned out. John said, "I'm very sorry, I didn't realize it was out, I'll get it fixed right away."Just then Jessica said, "I knew this would happen when I told you two days ago to get that light fixed." The officer asked for John's license and after looking at it said, "Sir, your license has expired."Again John apologized and mentioned that he didn't realize that it had expired. Jessica said, "I told you a week ago that the state sent you a letter telling you that your license had expired." By this time, John is a bit upset with his wife, and said in a rather loud voice, "Oh, shut your mouth!" The officer leaned over toward Jessica and asked. "Does your husband always talk to you like that?" "Only when he's drunk." Jessica replied. 존과 제시카가 술집에서 집으로 가는데 경찰이 존의 차를 멈춰 세웠다. 경찰관은 차의 미등이 꺼져 있어 차를 세웠다고 했다. 존은 "죄송합니다. 미등이 나간 지 몰랐어요. 당장 고치겠습니다"라고 말했다. 그때 제시카가 말했다. "내가 이틀 전에 미등 고치라고 했을 때 이런 일이 있을 줄 알았다니까." 경찰관은 존의 면허증을 요구했고, 그것을 살펴보더니 말했다. "면허 만기일이 지나셨군요." 존은 또다시 사과하며 미처 몰랐다고 말했다. 제시카가 말했다. "1주일 전에 면허 만기 고지안내가 왔다고 내가 얘기했죠." 이쯤 되자 존은 슬슬 부인에게 짜증이 나서 제법 큰 소리로 말했다. "아, 입 좀 다물어!" 경찰관이 제시카 쪽으로 몸을 기울이며 물었다. "남편 분이 항상 이런 식으로 말씀하나요?" 그러자 제시카가 답했다. "술 취했을 때만 그래요."
