For weeks, a six-year old Tommy kept telling his first-grade teacher about the baby brother or sister that was expected at his house.
One day the Mother allowed the boy to feel the movements of the unborn child. The six-year old was obviously impressed, but he made no comment. Furthermore, he stopped telling his teacher about the impending event.
The teacher finally sat the boy on her lap and said, "Tommy, whatever has become of that baby brother or sister you were expecting at home?"
Tommy burst into tears and confessed, "I think Mommy ate it!"
여섯 살 난 토미는 몇주째 담임선생님에게 머지않아 태어나게 될 동생에 대한 이야기를 해댔다. 어느 날 엄마는 토미가 뱃속 아기의 태동을 느낄 수 있도록 배를 만져보게 했다. 토미는 분명히 깊은 인상을 받은 것 같았지만 그에 대해 아무 말도 하지 않았다. 게다가 학교 선생님에게도 다가올 이벤트에 대해 더 이상 이야기하지 않게 됐다. 그러자 선생님은 토미를 무릎 위에 앉혀놓고 물었다. "식구들이 기다리는 동생은 어떻게 됐니?" 그러자 토미가 울음을 터뜨리며 털어놓았다. "엄마가 먹어버린 것 같아요!"
